Description
Cantina Chitarra
The Cantina Chitarra was established in 1907 and takes its name from the district in which it is located, in the heart of a valley with high viticultural intensity, crossroads of four municipalities: Mazara del Vallo, Trapani, Salemi, and Marsala. In 2012, the company embarked on a path of evolution, seeking in the past the roots of the future, through a journey between tradition, innovation, and culture, with the ambition to enhance the peculiarities of a unique terroir. By giving space to young people, with a team in love with Sicily and enthusiastic about telling, through wine, the enchanting music, timeless stories between charm and tradition, the art that moves. In 2018, the Chitarra winery has a conferred area of about 600 hectares cultivated as vineyards. 75% with white grape varieties and 25% with black grape varieties. A large space is given to native varieties such as: grillo, catarratto, inzolia, zibibbo, nero d'avola, frappato, and nerello mascalese. The chosen allochthonous varieties are those that have proven to adapt best to the typically Mediterranean climate of Sicily, in particular: pinot grigio, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, fiano, viognier, syrah, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and pinot noir. The Cantina Chitarra is very sensitive to environmental issues and its commitment is devoted to producing wines that tell the story of Sicily, respecting its environment and nature.
