I am a simple wine enthusiast like many of you are, my passion was born twenty years ago, when tasting a Nero d'avola evolved in barrique, I fell in love with it, the concentration, the aromas, the fragrances conquered me. At that time, as a farmer, my activity was directed towards intensive vegetable production, a job that, after many years, I realize has nothing to do with true and authentic agriculture. Tired of that life, I started a small business in my city, Vittoria, but my heart was agricultural, it is agricultural. Over the years I have made many micro vinifications for pleasure, for passion, for the desire to learn and for the desire to make My Wine. All this to get to the 2016 vintage when, driven by a strong desire to realize that dream, that desire, that ambition, I decided that the time had come to take a risk and start this adventure. The possibility of having an old tree at hand, the possibility of being able to vinify that so peasant grape, gave me courage and everything started.I think that my paternal great-grandfather, whom I never knew, Francesco Cappello, from up there is a little proud and guides me in this adventure. He, "Massa Francè", as they called him, was a winegrower, his vines sank their roots in the sandy dunes near the sea of Sicily, Nero d'Avola, Frappato, Grosso Nero, Albanello, Zuccarato vines that sank their roots in the sand of the high dunes of Macconi, immersed in the Mediterranean scrub. It's not that he made a premier cru wine, it was a peasant wine, really natural, often very alcoholic, other times less, from what my father tells me. But evidently wine is in my DNA and blood always calls, if one knows how to listen. To resume and follow a family tradition, now abandoned, forgotten, lost, I think is a great satisfaction for my father, Roberto, who never stops transmitting his boyish memories of those past harvests with his brothers helping the grandfather, and I hope it is also for my paternal grandfather whose name I carry, Carmelo Cappello. I think it is impossible to move forward without remembering where you come from, what your origins and traditions are. "We are and must be, the fruit of what our ancestors have sown." I dedicate these wines to you two Francesco and Carmelo, because together you are a constant beacon in my life.
