By profession a pharmacist and a winemaker by passion. We are in Sicily on the northwest side of Etna, at 980 mt above sea level, in a historic vineyard that once belonged to Admiral Nelson, in the municipality of Bronte. Three hectares cultivated with: Nerello Mascalese the undisputed protagonist of Etna and Grenache, a variety present in this region since the 15th century, eighty-year-old white berry vines of Carricante and Grecanico are the life of this plot that I took over in 2016 with the intention of producing a wine that can be a faithful translator of the territory. Here, where Sicily expresses itself in its fullness and paradoxes at almost a thousand meters of altitude, the grapes that ripen perfectly between the end of October and the first days of November, find the generous sun and the strong thermal excursions giving the wine complexity and finesse, matter combined with balance. Immersed in an unspoiled nature and rich in spontaneous vegetation we find nipitella, berries, saffron, broom, violets and wild roses in addition to apples, walnuts and almonds the vineyards are cultivated in organic farming for the full respect of the environment. Tartaraci, the name of the district, is also the name of the wine, from 2018 mention vineyard of the DOC Sicily. After the manual harvest, respectful vinification and refinement in concrete tanks, large oak barrels and steel, separating the various small plots that live their diversity: areas with more stony soils and others richer in sand, to keep intact the lively expression of the terroir.
