Antichi Granai

The farmhouse Antichi Granai was built in the early 1900s to store the wheat harvested on the gentle hills surrounding the farm over an area of 50 hectares.
And it is in this evocative corner of Sicily that the initiative of the winemaker Gianfranco Mazara comes to life, who, thanks to the precious support of his wife, decides to transform the old farmhouse into a farm holiday with a single, important purpose: to reintroduce to guests the ancient flavors of the past, in the idyllic landscape setting that makes the area unique. And of course, wine couldn't be missing. Managed directly by Gianfranco, winemaker, the wine offered by the company is of two types: the first, coming from the Catarratto IGP vine, is named in the bottle "A RACINA", a very fresh and harmonious wine with a slightly bitter vein of typicality that Catarratto has. The second comes from a Nero d'Avola DOC vine named in the bottle "VARCHETTA", a very determined product with a ruby red color with aromas that confirm in its own DNA its Sicilian nature. "A RACINA" so called means "grape", while "VARCHETTA" is the district that surrounds the vineyards and the farm holiday. The vineyards are cultivated at 400 meters s.l.m on pebbly soils extended for about 15 hectares, which lend themselves to cultivation with a gouyt pruning system that allows the plant a production not exceeding 2 kg of grapes.
