Cantine Amato

Erano gli anni ’30 quando Vincenzo Giardina Papa, emigrato in America da giovanissimo, decise di tornare nella sua terra d’origine. Il ritorno in Sicilia e l’aver sentito la mancanza, più di ogni altra cosa, dei piatti tipici della tradizione gastronomica isolana, lo spinsero ad aprire una piccola osteria a Piraino, in provincia di Messina. È questo l’inizio della storia delle cantine Amato: nel solco tracciato da Vincenzo, il genero Rosario Amato fonda, nel 1958, una cantina in contrada S. Ignazio a Piraino. Luogo dove l’azienda, in una versione più ampia, moderna e tecnologica, ha ancora oggi sede. I risultati ottenuti, frutto della passione e dedizione con cui Rosario si dedica al proprio lavoro, lo spingono negli anni ad ampliare la cantina acquistando alcune botti in legno e vasche in cemento. Negli anni ’80, è il turno del figlio Salvatore, animato dalla stessa dedizione del padre e dalla stessa volontà di migliorare la cantina, arricchendola di attrezzature enologiche all’avanguardia. Oggi Salvatore è affiancato nella conduzione dell’azienda dalla sua famiglia, specialmente dal figlio Rosario, che prosegue la tradizione da enologo, con mente attenta, nuove idee e tanta energia.
