Description
Marco de Bartoli
Marco De Bartoli has been acclaimed as the one who restored dignity to Marsala, showing the whole world the potential of this Sicilian territory in producing very high quality wines with a unique character. On the beautiful Sicilian island, specifically in the Marsala area, a short distance from the Mediterranean Sea, Marco embarked on a journey to rediscover and cultivate a deep connection between the viticultural traditions of the territory and innovative methods of land cultivation and wine production, convinced of their importance. Today, his message and his extraordinary work continue thanks to his children Renato, Sebastiano and Giuseppina. In recent years, they have increasingly focused on the production of vintage, single-variety and indigenous wines, maintaining a strong focus on respect for the territory and sustainability. The company includes two estates. The first is the historic Winery located in the "Vecchio Samperi" district, owned by the family for over two centuries. In this winery, precious roots for the history of Sicilian viticulture are preserved. It was here that Marco began a new path, bringing Marsala back to its origins. The second estate is located in Pantelleria, where Marco De Bartoli was fascinated by the potential of this land in the 1980s. Thus was born the Bukkuram winery, located inside a dammuso dating back to the 1700s, surrounded by about 5 hectares of vineyard at an altitude of 200 meters above sea level. Also in this estate, respecting the culture of the territory, the winery takes its name from the homonymous district, Bukkuram.
