Tenuta dell'Abate

The Tenuta dell'Abate Company, located in the Giffarrone district, in the territory of Caltanissetta, covers about two hundred and forty hectares, of which sixty-two are dedicated to vineyards, others to olive groves, almond groves, forestry and arable land. The average altitude is four hundred meters above sea level, the soil is predominantly calcareous-clayey with a slightly undulating layout and is rich in water coming from an artificial pond, formerly the site of a small open-air sulfur mine. It has long belonged to the Romano Family who, at the end of the nineties, planted the vineyard with counter-espalier and pruned with spurred cordon or Guyot method, obtaining as first fruits native and allochthonous varieties, such as Nero d'Avola, Cabernet Sauv., Cabernet F., Syrah and Merlot for the reds and Inzolia, Vermentino, Grecanico, Chardonnay, Traminer A., Viognier and Sauvignon B. for the whites, distinguished in the four lines "Terre del Palco", "Lissandrello", "Giffarro" and "Xib". The Company has also built, in recent years, a modern winery, partly underground, equipped with state-of-the-art winemaking equipment and barriques. The winery is also equipped for the entertainment of guests, general visitors and industry operators by reservation.
