Description
Neri
For over a century, the Neri family has lived through Etna through its activities. They were the first of the twentieth century when the brothers Vincenzo and Salvatore, the latter promising tenor, emigrated to the United States to seek luck. Fortunately he arrived in a short time thanks to the many sacrifices and the voice of Salvatore, a passionate interpreter of Italian opera in New York theatres. But the fate wanted the singer to be missing and Vincenzo decided to return to the native land and, with the savings, the fruit of the work with his brother, bought plots in the territory of Linguaglossa, on the slopes of Etna. Here he joined a girl from the country and, together, devoted themselves to the cultivation of vineyards and olive groves. In 2018, starting from the recovery of a center vineyard hectare, and with the acquisition of new plants extended on seven hectares, the Black Family starts production in biological regime of Etna DOC wines. The respect of terroir – which contributes to the production of expressive wines of the territory, by many considered the Burgundy of the Mediterranean – and of sustainability represent the two pillars of the productive philosophy of all family activities; particular attention is given to the production of electricity, entirely supported by a renewable plant and the packaging of products. The meticulous care of the vineyard is the daughter of a tradition that the Blacks have passed on for generations, in the awareness that the deep roots never die.
