Description
Palmento Carranco
From the meeting between Borgogno and Tornatore comes Carranco, a combination of historical tradition and experience, and authentic Etna roots. The union is the result of two realities at opposite poles but both capable of producing great wines, pure expression of their land of origin. Borgogno, the oldest winery in Barolo, still represents one of the most important and historic producers of Langa and Barolo. Tornatore on the other hand, originally from Castiglione di Sicilia, remains one of the very few indigenous Etna producers. In 2018, the desire was born to unite to tell and enhance the typicality of a territory still wild and untouched as that of Etna under the name of Carranco. The Etna wines of Carranco are produced with grapes that have always been grown on the slopes of the volcano. Our vineyards are located at 500 mt a.s.l. on the northern slope of Etna, in an unparalleled scenario. They sink their roots into a unique black land, rich in minerals and eruptive materials such as ashes, lapilli and volcanic sands originating from the crumbling of lava flows. On the northernmost side, among the basalt rocks, is the cru Contrada Carranco. A particularly suited area of the estate, where we have selected a vineyard with bush-trained vines to produce individually. From here come our three cru, Contrada Carranco.
