Gaja

Etna is more than a mountain: it is the highest active volcano in Europe, a sleeping giant to which the local inhabitants attribute a feminine nature of a capricious woman, but also maternal and protective, a volatile being with whom to live and rely on every day. IDDA means "She" in Sicilian dialect and is the term that, with affection and admiration, the locals use to define Etna. IDDA is also the common project of two families, Gaja and Graci, based on the common curiosity and the desire to learn and improve. With IDDA they have embarked on an unusual path: focusing attention mainly on Carricante and aiming at the rediscovery of the southwest slope, often indicated as the countercurrent side of Etna. Today the company owns 20 hectares of vineyards located between 600 and 800 m.s.l.m. in the municipalities of Belpasso and Biancavilla. The cultivated vines are Carricante and Nerello Mascalese.
