Description
Gustinella
We are on the slopes of Etna - precisely in Maletto, between 1100 and 1300 meters s.Lm. Maletto is an isolated town because it is the only Etna town where the state road does not cut through the centre but skirts its borders. Bordered indeed. between the well-known Brente and Randazzo. Sonia Gambino, after having undergone a training course between the new and old world decides to express herself in absolute freedom: and with freedom is meant technique, awareness, but above all ethics. All processes, from harvesting to winemaking, are manual with indigenous yeasts and spontaneous fermentations. "Are you Gustinello's granddaughter?" This is the phrase with which Sonia is greeted by the elderly locals on her final move to Etna. In fact, in an almost romantic way, her grandfather owned the Maletto wine press and 40 years earlier, in those territories, Peppe Gustinello transformed the local grapes into wine, as if it were a cooperative winery. In the same areas after a period of time the story repeats itself, trying to keep alive a tradition that must however always have a new look at the world.
