Description
Morgante
We were very young and inexperienced, but eager to understand how far and where our gamble would take us, aware that being in the deep south of Sicily would not make it easy for us. Here the land is scorched by the sun and the clods are dry and fiery; a land without water, where raising a vine is difficult and requires great sacrifices. During our growth process, we made important decisions such as focusing on indigenous grape varieties, mechanising, gradually transforming everything that could be transformed in the production chain systems, trying to make the best use of the technology that came to our aid and that in some way has changed the approach to wine, a little all over the world. Over the years, we have worked hard to build something and grow as entrepreneurs, trying to smooth out not only the natural difficulties that this land presents, but also the operational problems that the small and very small plots, scattered within a 30-kilometre radius around Grotte and which determine here and there the thousand boundaries of our 200 Ha property, require every day. When we started, we were aware of the sacrifices that awaited us, today we are proud of those sacrifices, because we have been able to humbly embrace the hard work of the land and interpret the world of wine without getting carried away, joining that new generation of Sicilians who did not want to emigrate abandoning their origins, but who instead tried to measure themselves with life to help change their land a little. For us, the only important thing is that customer who appreciates and respects us for the product that we offer him every year; he is the most important thing we have and we know that only through him can we continue to be winemakers here in Grotte, in the south of Sicily
