Description
Bruno Ferrara Sardo
In 1993, Bruno Ferrara Sardo began cultivating the small vineyard previously worked by his grandfather. To the owned hectare and 20 ares, other small parcels were added; today the company owns 1.98 hectares. Bruno Ferrara Sardo's Nerello Mascalese vineyard is located a few kilometers from the center of Randazzo (CT) in Contrada Allegracore, at an altitude of 700 meters, north of Etna, in an ideal position to enjoy the surrounding panorama. The soil is of volcanic origin with a variable depth lava substrate. The vineyard, partly planted 40 years ago and partly over 50 years ago, has been cultivated in respect of nature for over twenty years, without any use of herbicides, fertilizers and chemicals. In the cellar, the winemaker's goal is to accompany the hard-earned good result in the countryside without hindrance. For this reason, the low yields and naturally late harvests of this territory are followed by a minimally interventionist winemaking, which uses only racking to govern the parabola of the wine. Spontaneous fermentations entrusted to indigenous yeasts, without filtration, without clarification, without added sulfites.
