Description
Principi di Spadafora
Spadafora is a noble Sicilian family, whose first certified traces date back to 1230. Over the centuries, the House has had dominion over five principalities, one duchy, two marquisates, one county, and twenty-five baronies. Some members of the family have held prominent positions in the Kingdom of Sicily and in some European States. The founder of the farm is Don Pietro of the Principi di Spadafora, who inherited the estate from his uncle Michele De Stefani, a skilled farmer and breeder of racehorses. The estate suffered considerable damage during the earthquake of 1968 but Don Pietro committed himself to both the reconstruction and the requalification of the company, re-evaluating the native vineyards and bringing non-native vineyards to Sicily destined for the birth of quality wines. The current owner is Francesco Spadafora, son of Don Pietro, married to his wife Claudia, and assisted by their daughter Enrica.
