Description
Gulfi
Vito Catania did not want to interrupt the viticultural and olive oil production started three generations ago by his family. His passion for wine and his land led him to establish a significant winemaking reality in his native town: Chiaramonte Gulfi, on the Iblei Mountains, in the province of Ragusa. To the tradition inherited from his ancestors, since 1996, he added innovation, beginning a long work of mass selection in viticulture and careful, meticulous, and non-invasive production to create unique and prestigious Crus. His work, which began in his native area of the Iblei Mountains, in the Ragusa area, within the classic area of Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG, then extended to the southern tip of Sicily, Pachino, within the DOC Eloro, for the creation of the 4, as the French would simply and clearly define, Grand Crus of Nero d'Avola whose only difference is the terroir. The work concluded in Randazzo, within the DOC Etna on the north side of the volcano, with a century-old vineyard at 850mt above sea level, growing Nerello Mascalese and a bit of Nerello Cappuccio.
