Description
Nerina Cardile
DNA and Etna heart... You will feel that your father is like you, you will see him a little crazy, a little wise in always equally spending fear and courage, the fear and courage to live as a weight that everyone has carried, the fear and courage to say: "I have always tried, I have always tried..." Cit. Francesco Guccini, And One Day. I grew up in contact with the family winemaking tradition of Etna, but despite this I decided to take other paths. I was a very rebellious girl with a "CRAZY" desire to learn, discover new places I couldn't stand still. In fact, after high school I decided to study Psychology. After completing my studies at the University of Padua and obtaining my professional qualification, I enrolled at the J. Lacan Higher Institute of Freudian Studies in Catania, to become a psychotherapist. After several years of working as a psychologist both in Sicily and then in Milan, I decided to return to my beloved Etna and dedicate myself to another of my great passions, "WINE". There has always been something strong that tied me to this land. Every time I came home and saw my Etna I felt happy and my memories always led me to think about when I was a child. In particular, I remembered when in the summer I ran barefoot among the rows of what has now become my vineyard and the time of the harvest, a time of great joy and celebration for my whole family. My grandfather had built a Palmento when he was young, where people leaned to vinify, and I and the other children in the family had the task of crushing the grapes with our feet. I still remember the freshness of the earth under my feet, the feeling of freedom that crushing the freshly picked grapes gave me and the various smells. The second moment I eagerly awaited was the tasting of the must, waiting for the fermentation and having to wait for Saint Martin's day to taste the new wine. In July 2018 I returned to my small town of Solicchiata and in April 2019 I was hired by the company "Vino di Anna", a company that helped me grow both professionally and not only. And it is thanks to them that I was able to realize my dream, that of "producing artisan wine". In the company I worked everywhere: in the vineyard, in the cellar as well as taking care of company visits and other tasks. I feel happy and I work with a smile always on my lips, I like to understand and observe everything. In March 2020 my father decided to give me his "BELOVED VINEYARD" in the Piano dei Daini district, a vineyard that he still takes care of as if it were the most precious thing he has, and other lands including one in the "Rampante" district and "Barbabechi" districts. This one in the "Barbabechi" district is my big dream. It is a place that I particularly love and that I hope one day to be able to restore to a vineyard. My father passed on to me the love for the land, the vineyard and the wine. I couldn't have had a better teacher than him. But on the other hand, I owe everything also to my mother, who always advised me to follow my dreams and passions, to never stop even if sometimes choices may seem "crazy". So I decided to take a leap and go beyond, vinifying a small part of the grapes of this old vineyard and telling a story through my "TERREmoto"
