Elios

Elios was born in 2015, the year in which we both found ourselves having to decide about the future of our career paths. Both dissatisfied with our jobs, both tired of working for the dreams of others. Both in love with natural wines. Despite having different backgrounds, what united us was the love for nature and for Sicily and the desire to give new vitality to our families' farms, until then subjugated by the industrial groups to which we were selling grapes and olives. Our idea was to produce wine through a minimal intervention winemaking process (without the use of chemical products or additives etc.), from the grapes that our parents sold to the large wineries, thus giving them the opportunity to truly express themselves and to recover the lost dignity. The start of our project was not easy. We bet on our lands and dared something unusual for our area. Practically everyone living in our province (Trapani) are large grape producers but not wine producers. Nowadays, no one wants to risk a euro to produce wine. Producers prefer to be sure of selling the grapes, even if at a low price, to large wineries, rather than having to create a market. Therefore, we live in a comfort zone but at the same time we cyclically complain about the price and the low-profit agricultural model. Instead, we decided to go against the current, dreaming of revitalizing the territory by betting on the potential of our farms and our grapes.
