If Sicily, climatically, is a continent, Etna represents its most northern aspect. Finding oneself in August in the Randazzo area, and having to sleep with a blanket at night, describes very well the context in which we find ourselves. It's true that we are at 700-800 m s.l.m. and on the northern slope of the volcano, but we are also in the south of the Mediterranean. Under this sky, the overlapping of different lava flows from each other, the formation of soils over the millennia, the different altitudes, complete a picture that is too simplistic to call unique. Because the picture is a puzzle, in which the pieces are many small terraces, strongly desired by man, each with specific and different characteristics within them. In this extraordinary context, the vine that has expressed the best peculiarities over the centuries has been the Nerello Mascalese, a variety with a very long vegetative cycle, whose grapes often become ready for harvest after mid-October. The climatic trend, the quality of the soils and the characteristics of the vine make the wines that derive from it, different from vineyard to vineyard, from district to district, all of great finesse, but also of equal pleasantness. Discreet to the eye with their faint ruby color, but explosive in their fragrances, generous and persuasive. The owned vineyards are located in the Contrade of: Contrada Marchesa, Santo Spirito (in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia), and Bocca d'Orzo (Municipality of Randazzo). But also on Passo Cannone, Piano d'Aria, North Slope.
