List of products by brand Cantine Amico

On the slopes of Borgo Prestianni, in the territory of Caltanissetta, surrounded by the greenery of the woods and the valley, is the Amico Winery. Since 1967, the Amico family, owners of 25 hectares of fertile land, have been cultivating cereals, wheat, olives and raising their own animals in respect of the untouched nature of the Borgo, preserving a wooded area. Among the children of the large Amico family, Filippo was the one who promoted and undertook a new path to give new impetus to the family business and make it a source of income for everyone. He decided, in 1970, to plant a first vineyard in which Nero d'Avola, Nero cappuccio and Insolia were grown. For the first harvest, a small cellar with wooden barrels and all manual equipment was used. Thanks to the great affability of the Amicos and their many friends and acquaintances, their wine was soon known, appreciated and sold not only in the Province. For 46 years the company's production, tenaciously led by Filippo, continued in a simple but effective way, until Michele took over and together with his children, continued what his father had done, improving it until in 2021 they bottled their first wine. The production is strictly done by hand, from pruning to harvesting, except for cultivation which is carried out with tractors by the owners themselves. It is a small winery where the grapes used for winemaking are exclusively produced on the farm. The types of wine are five: Nero D'Avola DOP and Syrah IGP, Cabernet IGP, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah and a novelty, the red Sangiovese IGP produced in Sicily. For the shades of our reds and the intense and full-bodied fragrances, our labels have been immediately associated with the Mediterranean art of the Sicilian artist Michelangelo Lacagnina. The artist has attributed shades and nuances of red to each vine: to Cabernet a spicy cinnabar, to Sangiovese a pure scarlet, to Syrah a lux coral and to the Cabernet-Syrah blend an intense ruby. To the Nero d'Avola doc, the artist has attributed the black of the vine to recall the burnt vine shoot used as a drawing pencil over the centuries. From the collection of works by Michelangelo Lacagnina, two subjects were selected, Paper Woman and Dionysus and Ariadne, to better identify the territoriality of a product that comes from the lands of central Sicily.
