The company takes its name from the river that, on the slopes of Etna, laps the Feudo S. Anastasia district in Randazzo, where the lands and cellars are located. The name "Al-Cantàra", which in Arabic means "bridge", wants to underline the connection with the Sicilian land and is a symbol of the harmonious and innovative combination of wine, art and poetry that constitutes the distinctive mark of the company. Not by chance the names of the wines are inspired by poems by Sicilian authors such as Nino Martoglio, Micio Tempio, Giovanni Meli, Alfio Antico, Salvatore Di Pietro, Francesco Guglielmino and Ercole Patti. The company, of about 20 hectares, produces ETNA DOC and Terre Siciliane IGP wines made only with the grapes harvested in its own lands, favoring native vines (Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Carricante) without neglecting research and experimentation (Pinot Nero and Cabernet Sauvignon). Al-Cantàra manages to express the Nerello Mascalese, thanks to its marked acidity, minerality and structure, in Red, Rosé, White, Sparkling, Passito and Grappa! Moreover, the volcanic soil of Etna, rich in minerals, gives these wines absolutely unique aromas. Each Al-Cantàra wine therefore offers, to those who taste it, a fascinating and exciting multisensory journey, among colors, verses and flavors typical of the most genuine Sicilian cultural identity.
