In Menfi, precisely in Porto Palo, the ancient port of Selinunte, in one of the richest areas of history in all of Sicily and with views of rare beauty, next to the natural reserve of the mouths of the Belice river, among dwarf palms, tamarisks, prickly reeds and horned poppies. It is here, with the vineyard that reaches the beach, that Gurra di Mare was born, the youngest company of Domini di Castellare di Castellina. A company that joins the other Sicilian winery, Feudi del Pisciotto. The palm is the symbol of the new company, because it is so rooted, so important in the history and landscape of Sicily, but now so fragile under the attacks of the red weevil. For this reason, part of the proceeds from the sale of Gurra di Mare wines will go towards research to define an action protocol against the red weevil. Gurra is the name of a small watercourse that flows into the sea and is one of the elements that most characterize the landscape of the municipality of Menfi.
