The concept of organic in agriculture refers to a method of agricultural production that enhances the natural fertility of the soil ecosystem, the healthiness of the products and strengthens sustainability by avoiding the use of synthetic products such as pesticides and chemical fertilizers. The organic regime therefore provides for the banning of synthetic chemicals and also genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in the vineyard, as well as in the cellar, where more restrictive and stringent winemaking practices are in place compared to so-called "conventional" productions.
