The company Famiglia Statella was born from the idea of Calogero Statella and his wife Rita to produce wine, from owned vineyards, that was a faithful expression of a viticulture that can only be practiced on Etna. In these few sentences their production philosophy: "Etna: the land where we both were born. In this unique viticultural context, the artisanal approach to wine production represents the only way to best express the genotype-environment interaction, through a deep knowledge of the Etna terroir and its vines, in order to obtain wines of the highest quality level with a strong territorial connotation. Our company and our wine was born from this idea." The variability of volcanic soils, exposures, altitudes and the effect of the Ionian Sea create different viticultural terroirs at a short distance. This pedo-climatic variability is reflected in the wines of Etna to the point of creating appreciable differences in wines produced from the same vine but in areas that differ for: the slope on which the grapes are grown, the altitude of the vineyard, the geological era from which the soil of the vineyard originated, distance from the sea.
